Art Habits

Students will learn warm up skills and body awareness. How to properly use their tools and materials, and pace themselves when engaging in art projects. Building routines that will set a solid foundation for independent skill development.

Foundational Drawing Techniques

Students will learn form, value, perspective and the fundamentals of basic Human figure drawing. Using basic shapes and simple perspective techniques to render sketches of 3D objects, people and scenery.

Independent Skill Development and Artist Communication

Students will learn how to study art and the importance of consistency. This will encourage students to work out their own personal art style through trial, error, repetition and success. Students will learn how to talk like an artist and use the proper terms in describing their artwork. Students will be encouraged to talk with and challenge each other to push their drawings outside of comfort zones.

Mentorship

Students will have the opportunity to be guided through these fundamentals, with gentle course correction and artist insight. Throughout this course I will be able to get to know each student and learn different ways to help them stay on track with the course goals and push them to reach their own personal goals.

Fun

The number one way to learn is by having fun. I want to create an environment in which students feel safe and comfortable approaching art challenges with bravery and a falling forward attitude. We're not looking for perfection - we are looking for tenacity and willingness to try hard things.
